AD Germany Visits Kostümfundus Babelsberg

As part of the set tour through Studio Babelsberg, Studio Executive Eike Wolf guided the team from Architectural Digest Germany across the historic studio grounds — including a stop at our Kostümfundus Babelsberg.

Together with our head of department, Anke Fritzsche, the tour explored the women’s collection, featuring garments from all eras — from the Middle Ages to contemporary fashion. Two additional floors house menswear, uniforms, and accessories, bringing our total inventory to around 5 million costumes and accessories.

Yet the Kostümfundus is far more than an archive. It is a vibrant, working environment. Here, research is conducted, garments are adapted, crafted, and newly created. In our workshops, custom-made pieces are produced for actors — often in close collaboration with costume designers from Germany and around the world.

Being an in-house costume fundus directly based at Babelsberg is something truly special to us — and part of a film culture that has shaped international productions for over 100 years.

Our thanks to Eike Wolf and AD Germany for this look behind the scenes.
